Casino Royale
I’ve seen Casino Royale five days ago and I’ve spent these days pondering on it. I know every single film starring Ian Fleming’s secret agent James Bond. When I was at the theater I simply absorbed the movie without thinking too much. I wanted the movie to sink in before I started to ask myself if this new Bond actor is worth another movie. Today, I came to a conclusion. Daniel Craig can’t be compared to the other actors. The others were perfect secret agents already. This movie is about Bond becoming the cold, heartless, and improvising killer we know and love. In ‘Casino Royale’ he’s kinda like a sociopath and he’s got lotta chances to prove this fact in one of the most character-driven movies in the whole series. I really enjoyed the movie, simply because Bond looked like he was inexperienced. There are no gadgets. There’s neither a Q nor a Moneypenny. It’s been a long time since Bond has been this human.
Apart from the apparent movie mistakes, this 21st installment has only one problem. It’s a complete reboot. Sort of a new beginning. That’s a little bit irritating because Judi Dench still remains as M. Well, the plot wasn’t really that well thought out but it is enough to illustrate what it’s like to be a newly promoted double-zero agent. I like the direction the producers have taken with the latest installment of the series and I’m happy they managed such a rejuvenation after more than four decades …
