People are fascinated by the supernatural. How else could a series like Supernatural become so popular?

Anyway, it's not just Zombies and Vampires. Just think of witches. Over the last few decades witchcraft has become accepted. Nowadays, people don't even look twice. With Harry Potter, Charmed and other similar literature/tv series it's become cool to be a witch.

I agree that there is a certain pattern to this cycle, just like there's one in fashion. We've come full circle quite a lot of times, I think, and the wheel keeps on turning.

It would be a blessing if you could predict the next trend. That would enable you to open the right shop at the right time. Hmm ... maybe it's time to hop aboard the Werewolf train. Do you think it's possible to make a living out of selling werewolf costumes and stuff?

I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday, and I said that I believed our society goes through a cycle of fascination between Zombies and Vampires.

When society is into Vampires, they embrace the darkness, occult, and death. Death being a sort of rebirth. With Zombies, we reject death, and how we lose our humanity.

Its always one or the other that is big at the time, but they rarely are on the same level at the same time. I thought we were still in a Zombie cycle. . .
