Franklyn is an upcoming British fantasy film following a dark and dystopian theme. The movie is set between the parallel worlds of contemporary London and the futuristic faith dominated metropolis of Meanwhile City. Franklyn offers a glimpse into the inner workings of fate and follows the tales of four characters:
Jonathan Preest (Ryan Phillippe) is a masked atheist detective searching for his nemesis, Meanwhile City’s dangerous leader.
Emilia (Eva Green) is a beautiful young art student whose conducting ever more dangerous art projects.
Milo (Sam Riley) is a heartbroken thirty-something yearning for the purity of first love.
Peter Esser (Bernard Hill) is a broken man, searching desperately for his missing son amongst London’s homeless.
Even though the trailer isn’t a work of art, the film has caught my interest. Franklyn premiered at the 52nd London Film Festival on 16 October 2008.The film will hit theaters in the UK on 20 February 2009. A release date for the United States has yet to be set. Of course, you can also visit the official site to stay up to date.
Almost a year ago I wrote about the plot and it seems that they haven’t changed much. Now there’s a trailer online and you can look for yourself. From what I can surmise, this movie is even sicker than the first. Crank 2: High Voltage has some nice scenes as evidenced by the trailer. Have fun!
Finally, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer has arrived in glorious quicktime. Of course, this trailer has been all over the net for ages in a crappy quality. Now you can enjoy it in high definition. The film is set to be released on May 1, 2009, and I’m already looking forward to seeing it.
This movie tells the story of Wolverine’s past and the ominous Weapon X program which should get interesting. Lots of other mutants will make an appearance, especially Victor Creed (Sabretooth). Others are Deadpool, Beak, Gambit, Agent Zero, Silver Fox, Cyclops, Kestrel, and a few others, I guess. To be honest, I didn’t like the trailer too well but they could’ve done much worse.
Finally, the trailer for the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still has been made available. In the original movie, a flying saucer lands in Washington DC. An alien being called Klaatu has come to Earth to warn its leaders not to take their conflicts into space. Otherwise, the will face devastating consequences. I don’t want to delve into the story because I don’t know the original movie. But I’m sure to watch this one when it hits theaters on December 2nd this year. With Jennifer Connelly and Keanu Reeves in the lead, this should turn out to be interesting. The trailer is available in glorious Quicktime over at Apple. Watch it, it looks really decent.
This is one of those films that hat been coming forever it seems. Finally, after two teasers we got ourselves a nice little present in the form of a real trailer. Babylon A. D. is a science fiction film that plays in the near future. Toorop (Vin Diesel) is a mercenary who has to escort a woman from Russia to Canada. What he doesn’t know is that Aurora (Mélanie Thierry) is carrying an organism in her that everbody wants to get their hands on.
During production the crew did encounter some difficulties and did run over the budget. Filming was completed more than a year ago and now the first full-length trailer has been released. You can watch it here if you so choose. The flick is available in higher resolution over at IGN. If you want to check out the teaser trailers first, check this site out. I gotta say, it looks quite promising and may be well worth watching at the theater.
In late February this year, Transporter 3 has been announced. Once again, Jason Statham will play Frank, the delivery driver who will transport any package anywhere, no questions asked. No plot details have been released yet, although Prison Break’s T-Bag, Robert Knepper, will be the villain. It has come to my ears that the teaser trailer has already hit the web – and it sure looks good. A higher quality version of the trailer can be viewed at French site AlloCiné. I’m really looking forward to watching this movie. It’s all about the action, baby!
